Visit your new school

Video which will help a new student from another culture settle in “your school”.

Allow your partner students to imagine they are having a guided visited with their host students.

Students to understand the diiferences in educational system and environment.

Create ‘show and tell’ packages 


Pupils to put together gift boxes for their friends in the partnership school 

which they feel represent their daily life and culture. 

This will be an excellent stimulus for discussing daily life and experiences. 


Activity February 2014

Sharing press on topics of interest 

Pupils to select articles from the media and publications 
that interest them to share with the partner school. 

This will provide authentic resources for teaching from and give pupils ownership of their learning. 

Pupils can create commentaries and debate topics from the articles and compare their own cultures. 

This can support the curriculum.

We have set up EPALS GLOBAL COMMUNITY email addresses for JS Pons pupils in order to connect with our partner school and create
  • real world, culturally- enriching learning experiences. 
  • a safe and protected space for interactions. Educators can manage and monitor what students see, whom they communicate with and how they interact. ePals Technology platforms comply with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).

Activity November / January 2013/14



"Videos about school and local area": 
Pupils to film documentaries about their school and local areas in target language to send to other school. 
  • This will provide pupils an opportunity to learn about a different context from their own, to motivate them for being involved with exchange projects ad to support the teaching of the languages syllabus.
  • Pupils will prepare scripts in lesson time and in groups will create a film. 
  • Groups will be responsible for the editing and packaging of the film which will then be sent to the partner school for screenings.

"Multiple writing"

each school writes a part of a short story which expresses the diverse aspects of a multicultural society.    
  • To enable students to understand the interdependency of globalisation. 
  • To encourage pupils to understand the meaningful cultural and business links between nations. 
  • Students will challenge preconceptions about countries. 
  • They will learn about the global nature of business and its impacts.   
  • They will learn about the economics of global business and the nature of competition and its impacts.
